👋 Mbote!
Imagine hauling cacao, produce, and other supplies up and down a mile long stretch of winding mountain path. Twisted, treacherous, washed out by rain, and often blocked by runoff and natural debris. For our cooperative farmers and families in Mayombe and surrounding villages, it was business as usual. Just another day in the life.
In DRC, resources are stretched too thin and the government cannot make good on its promise to improve infrastructure, which makes it a complicated process getting our cacao to markets.
Good road access would also benefit other agricultural crops produced in the province and improve access to education and health services.
We took this video to show our partners the logistical challenges we face everyday to produce and export our much loved cacao.
